HOME AGAIN

We were discharged once again from the hospital earlier today. It feels good to be back at the apartment, and hopefully we won’t be back at the hospital until our next and final planned inpatient stay!

The first thing I saw when I woke up was a note from Caleb’s night nurse. She wrote Caleb’s numbers on the board so that I would see them as soon as I woke up. I smiled when I saw they went up. Even though his numbers are still low we did see an increase and that is a very good sign!

Although I had a feeling we were headed in the right direction when Caleb’s mood and appetite started to change yesterday afternoon. He was able to sit up and play for almost 2 hours. He also got his appetite back and started eating and drinking a lot more. The color in his face looked better and all signs were pointing toward his numbers coming up!

We still have to be very careful because his ANC is very low, but I feel like his body has fought off the virus and he is recovering. We have to be back at St. Jude very early tomorrow morning for another count check. I am praying his numbers hold and that he doesn’t need any more transfusions this round. If this is the case, and his ANC bounces back along with his Hgb and Platelets, we may be able to start our final cycle next week! I am trying not to get my hopes up but I am so ready!!

On a lighter note, Tyler had a gymnastics performance tonight to show off all that he has learned in his gymnastics class over the last couple months. Since James has been taking him to T-ball I got to go watch gymnastics. I have never seen Tyler so excited! He was so proud to show off all his new skills ha ha! Gymnastics has been a great way to get his energy out after school and he has learned some new things, so it’s a win win!

But just because James and Caleb couldn’t come to gymnastics didn’t mean they didn’t have a fun night. Caleb got to hang out with daddy while he finished work, and daddy gave him his afternoon dose of antobiotics.

But then they decided to break all the rules by having a nerf gun fight inside, and breakfast for dinner. I mean hey, why not I guess!? Caleb thought it was so fun and so special that he got to do that. And he deserves some fun after being confined to a hospital room for so long over the past week!

So, we will update again tomorrow on where we stand, but we are praying all numbers are trending upward so we can move on with the last Cycle of chemo before we are cleared to go home!
